6 saving tips to consider before travelling

Tips for saving but still enjoying your vacation

Travelling takes out a huge chunk of your annual budget, so it is natural to think cost-effective and looking for ways to save some money during the vacation. The digitalisation in the world provides you have access to an increasing amount of information, which can lead you to some good deals. Just be careful, as not everything is what it seems. Here are some suggestions for savers:

1.  Follow the trends, go "boutique" style hotel

The new type of hotel normally has a friendly atmosphere and better standard than the old budget hotels, and still, there are in the lower price level. They are becoming extremely popular and for a reason, I do not how to express, but it can be a laid-back feel-good experience.

2. Fly on Tuesdays

I am not sure if many are aware of this, but Tuesdays are often the cheapest day to fly! It is always worth to look around to spot good prices within a couple of days from your departure date if you are flexible.

Consider dropping the weekend plan altogether and go on a weekday trip instead. You are likely to find more inexpensive hotel rates and airfare during the week.

3. Don't Postpone – consider refundable hotel booking

You can save if you can decide in advance as long as possible. You might have heard about last minute deal, but chances are that you will pay a lot more if you have to buy a ticket or book a room shortly before arrival. Sometimes you can book a refundable hotel, and then rebook. If a better option shows ups. Be aware that the stated price includes all costs. It is not always the case.

4. Family Package Deals

As a family, it is often possible to save a lot by buying a full package! An all-inclusive vacation may include all meals and drinks, and even some activities. Kids do not enjoy restaurants much anyway. Maybe you can find a package offer one that suits you. If going without kids, I would never consider all-inclusive. Eating new places would then be part of the enjoyment.

5. Vacation with Family – Share the costs, and have someone to share the great moments with!

To arrange some sightseeing, you can save by filling all the capacity of the vehicle. You can save by renting a large apartment for all. It is not only saving but can increase the experience.

6. Off-season and off the beaten track

Today, maps and information about almost all places are freely available. Use it to avoid tourist traps, and this will help you save some money. In the most popular tourist destinations, costs may be far higher as shops and traders raise prices on all goods and services. There is so much to save by local at lesser-known places.

For the most popular places, travelling just outside the peak season means a lot for prices - such as going to the Mediterranean in September – where the weather is still pleasant.

Finally, holidays are not a sport on how to save the most, the focus should always be to relax, see new things and have fun.
